Chapter 10
K, Ike, Inf, and Asia had dinner that evening at Red Lobster. It was at this dinner that Inf, in front of his boys got down on one knee at the table which was in the middle of the restaurant, and proposed to Asia. Without hesitation she proudly accepted her 6.5 carat clear cut diamond engagement ring. As romantically ghetto as it was, it was still beautiful to see a sistah and a brotha planning to vow commitment to each other for an eternity.
K wondered if he would ever bond like that with a woman again, even though deep inside he knew he wanted to. His parents were separated, he was married but may as well been divorced for he was separated for four years, and his grandparents had been separated before his grandfather passed. He was thoroughly confused about the whole institution of matrimony. Inf and Asia both looked truly happy; like they belonged together.
They finished up dinner, K paid the bill as promised, and set out to the crib in Chesapeake. Asia tried to stop the never ending flow of happy tears. Once they got to the house, they got together all the money needed for transaction. When the long black van pulled up in the driveway, Asia went out front to greet the young lady driving. K hit the automatic garage door opener and motioned for her to pull inside. She backed up into the garage and the door that he opened was again closed by remote control. She came inside and conversed with Asia about the long exhausting trip from Texas. This was another chick that he hadn’t seen, but K knew an outfit as large as Santo's had to have many mules. She sipped on a corona and asked if there was anywhere nearby that she could get a nice comfortable room with a hot tub Jacuzzi. She said she wanted to take a long hot bath, wash off the two day trip and get some much needed rest. Asia called the hotel that they were staying in and reserved a second room on her Visa. K, Ike, and Inf unloaded the fifteen duffel bags that had 10 blocks in each bag, brought them into the house and stacked them in the basement.
The young lady said, "Someone will be here in the morning to pick up the money. I only have instructions to bring the van to this address."
That told K one of two things. Either Santos didn't fully trust this chick or he wanted to switch up the routine. He hoped it was the latter of the two.
"Aight, you hungry? Do you need anything?"
She pointed to her nose and asked "You got any blow? Well I know you got plenty of blow, but you know what I mean."
She seemed a little embarrassed, but not enough to wait eagerly for an answer. So that explained it. K looked at Ike and he headed out the door and said he'd be back in a half hour.
